Central Venue: 29 Main Road, Tirau
3rd Sunday of the month, 9am to 2pm
Mission statement:
The formation and ongoing event ‘Tirau Markets’ will offer an exciting venue for producers and makers to meet and sell their product, building community spirit with locals and visitors.
The purpose of the market is to provide a focal point for the community by providing facilities and support for vendors in the convening of a country style market (including produce, art & craft, pottery).
We do this by providing a venue
1) for people to sell their products,
2) for the wider community to meet and greet,
3) to provide enjoyment and recreation,
4) to encourage fellowship of members of the community by helping on community stalls, managing traffic and parking and general organization of the market,
5) to raise funds to support and enhance the Tirau community and it’s missions by enabling selected local community members to create awareness of the activities and offerings of Tirau e.g. the Tirau Primary School, Tirau Coop Church and Business Association will be invited to participate in the inaugural celebration/opening of the market which will be themed on a Mid Winter Christmas/Matariki.
Once established, Tirau Markets plan to donate a percentage of any profit made from each market to charities/organizations that help to promote Tirau. Priorities for the allocation of sites. Our priorities are quality, local • produce • plants • handmade craft and art • organic products • collectables • entertainment • and items that add interest and variety to the market but maintain a high standard for the overall market. • Children are to be encouraged to participate in running stalls; There are several areas that are smaller sites that can be allocated to lessen the cost for kids producing their own goods for sale. Two ½ sites will be initially offered to Tirau Primary School on a trial and ongoing basis.
